In simultaneous derivation, a new word is created by changing the internal structure of another word, such as its movement pattern. An example is the pair sıt and chaır. The verb sıt is produced by a single upwards wrist movement of the hands in 8-handshape. When this sign is articulated with repetition, the word chaır is derived, which shows that repetition is a derivational process deriving an instrument from a verb.
