SIGN-HUB Sign Language Grammars

This section of the platform currently hosts the grammars of 7 sign languages: Catalan Sign Language (LSC), French Sign Language (LSF), German Sign Language (DGS), Italian Sign Language (LIS), Sign Language of the Netherlands (NGT), Spanish Sign Language (LSE), and Turkish Sign Language (TฤฐD). You can access these via the language list above the video. You can navigate through the grammars with the help of the ToC but you can also download them as a pdf document.

These grammars were written by the researchers in the SIGN-HUB project following the guidance provided in the SignGram Blueprint and are based on both the linguistics literature that was available as well as original research done during the project.

We hope that local spoken language and sign language versions of these existing grammars or of new grammars will be available in the future.

These grammars are by no means exhaustive and they should be viewed as works in progress. We welcome new sign language grammars and further contributions to existing grammars. This future work will be facilitated by the online grammar writing tool developed by the SIGN-HUB project. This tool enables the writers to insert and edit content (text and visual examples) under each heading in the Table of Contents and is designed in such a way that once all content is provided by the writers, it can automatically be displayed as a digital grammar in the series. Please contact us for more information on this procedure.

Now, please โ€œclickโ€ on one of the grammars and start exploring the intriguing world of sign languages!
